Doves

I hate to see these doves that just started a nest in our neighbors rain gutter .. poor birds are going to be washed out .. they just began the nest so hopefully they will move on before eggs are laid .. rain is supposed to happen today .. but weather forecasts have NOT been right about that in ages !

So much to do !

May 10th .. The weather has been great but where is the rain ? .. the garden could really use it and the thought of dragging that hose around is not a nice one .. haha.
Found White Pearl Bugbane for the back corner in a shady area ... needed something tall and dramatic and wonderful in the Autumn to see ! .. this is a total of 3 now and placed all along the back fence .. finally some continuity ?

I still have to top up soil in the raised beds .. sprinkle a little Sheep "gold" ? haha .. set things off on the right foot to flourish .. I so want to see a garden jungle take place ..
This year is more one of maintenance than plant hunting .. although I still keep an eye out for the "strange and unusual" .. can't help it .. no gardener can so we are hopeless plant addicts no matter what boundaries we set out for ourselves .. LOL

I have fallen behind in photos and considering starting a new blog because I'm afraid this one may be too big .. I guess I have to wait and see ?

May 3rd Thursday

Weather is sunny but still a bit cool .. no rain for days and none for some time to come .. garden is beginning to green up but a lot of work to be done yet .. plant hunting for herbs .. soil to be bought and top up areas .. and pots ! The Goldfinches have been permanent lodgers on our feeder. They are such beautiful little birds ! So happy they "like" us and our garden !

Spring weather at last !

The weather has been a huge issue with such a late Spring .. but since it managed to show up it has been almost nonstop .. as the work has .. new members as "Royal Wedding" white poppy .. Herbstonne Rudbeckia .. Ostritch Plume Astilbe .. and Morden Blush rose to match Morden Sunrise at opposite side of the island border .. I'm hoping for dramatic impact against Black Lace Sambuca. The Morden Blush is a pale pink to ivory .. it should be striking if it works !

Finally got the old "Pink Turltehead" out and shifted the Chinensis Astilbe to that spot .. still tryng to approch the job of digging out lady in Red fern from behind the Sumac tree to a better "show" place .. also to dig out second Joe Pye from arbor area to place Herbstonne in that spot ...
So many jobs to get done before settling into regular maintenance !
BIG ouch to all this work !

April 16th ... wet heavy snow with strong winds .. this is something else .. where is SPRING once again ??

Imaginative design for a large garden .. I can see this in a pretty spot to highlight plants around it.

An amazing yet very simple feature for a larger pond. Simplicity in design is a better choice when your main emphasis is in abundant plants and varieties ... this is a gorgeous focal point though !

Water features are becoming so easy now .. just that faint trickle of sound is so relaxing.

This is a very small unit to put just about any where you would like to !

I had to get this frog .. garden whimsy is VERY important ! haha

This is how THICK the ice was on everything .. rain is happening now .. but that is due to start freezing again soon .. Spring ? where are you ?

March 2nd

Mini Ice Storm hit Kingston .. bad day to try and get to a garden show .. hopefully tomorrow ? Heaven knows what weather will hit next ?
